Midnight Glow is a Nu Disco/Funk Ableton template that is designed to give you a flexible starting point for producing laidback Disco, Funk, 80's Pop, and even Synthwave tracks. The template combines acoustic drums, groovy electric bass, lush synth chords, and funky electric guitar. And the cool part is that none of the tracks are bounced in audio, not even the guitar track.
The template is produced using a range of multi-sampled instrument and drum racks:
- Drums – A drum rack multi-sampled from a 70s drum set, featuring 4 round robins and multiple velocity layers for ultra-realistic sound.
- Bass – Multi-sampled Bass IV with flatwound strings, providing a warm, authentic tone ideal for Funk and Disco.
- Guitar – Multi-sampled electric guitar with flatwound strings. The rack includes mutes at B-1-B1 octaves, allowing you to program realistic, funky guitar rhythms.
- Synths – All racks are multi-sampled from classic synths such as the Juno 6 and Jupiter 4, offering an authentic lush and vintage vibe.
- Strings – A custom string rack designed specifically for this template, combining several multi-sampled string articulations.
Thanks to these instrument racks, the entire template remains fully customizable. None of the drum or instrument tracks are bounced in audio; instead, they are MIDI tracks that are fully editable.
You can modify drum patterns, change melodies, adjust groove, tweak processing, arrangement, and structure to create an entirely original track. The use of MIDI tracks allows you to adapt the template to various genres, from 80s-inspired Pop like The Weeknd to funk-driven Daft Punk tunes.
The flexibility of this template makes it a valuable resource for learning music production techniques. You can break down and explore every element—from the sound design to processing, track layering, and arrangement—helping you improve your production skills.
The template is mixed and mastered using Ableton Live’s native effects, and since all tracks rely on the included instrument racks, no third-party plugins or Kontakt libraries are required. You can open the project and start working immediately without the need for additional software.
This template provides an excellent starting point for creating 80s-flavored tracks, while also offering ready-to-use instruments and endless opportunities for customization and creative experimentation.
