Groove & Swing is a Deep House template with a classic sound built on swinging drums, a groovy bassline, a catchy piano riff, and touches of live-style instrumentation like sax and electric keys. It’s inspired by tracks like Treat You Right from Dennis Quin and Cheshy, leaning toward that raw, swing-heavy House feel.
Everything is set up with MIDI tracks, including the sax and keys, giving you full control over melodies, processing, structure, and more. You can swap drum sounds, rework the bassline, or play your own chords and melodies on top of what’s already there. It’s an easy starting point if you’re sketching ideas or want to produce a full track without starting from scratch.
The project is mixed and mastered using only Ableton’s native effects, with Serum as the only third-party plugin so there’s no need for extra libraries or plugins.
It’s also a solid project to break down and learn from if you’re working on arrangement, sound design, or mixing, or just trying to get that classic House energy using modern tools. Everything is editable - no frozen tracks or locked effects - so you can dig in and learn from it or just grab what you need for your own tracks.
The template is provided in two versions to ensure compatibility with both Serum 1 and Serum 2.
What you need to work with this Ableton template:
